Your Time Management Is in Direct Proportion to How Much You Make

I am writing this blog to all those out there that can’t seem to figure out whats holding them back from living a financially healthy life. The truth I have found over the years and that I want to share with you today is how we manage our time absolutely determines how much many we end up making.

Let me give you an example: I think we can agree that we all have the same amount of hours in a day, right? Then doesn’t it make sense that it really just comes down to how we manage our time?

Whats the difference between someone who makes $50,000.00 a year vs. someone who makes $150,000.00 or $1,000,000.00 vs. $10,000,000.00 a year as an entrepreneur? The answer is found not in what you are selling, but in what you are doing.

The individual that is making more money than you is simply better at time management than you are.

Think about it for a minute. Productive people, I’m talking about those who focus on the most important issues of their business, are the ones taking the lions share of the revenue.

Productive people simply get more done, achieve better results, and earn far more money in the hours they work.

What’s their secret? Simple, they devote more time to being productive on their top priorities.

You may be asking yourself (at least I’m hoping you are), what makes up their top priorities?  The answer is found by figuring out what makes you the most money and what areas are moving you closer to your goals. Once you find it, then you must maximize it!

A simple strategy to implement in your daily business activities is to begin to focus on the “now”. This means you have got to realize that what you are doing right now in your business will determine what you will experience in your next moment.

If you find yourself working on areas that don’t make you any money, then you must stop and regroup. Being busy doesn’t mean you’re being productive, it just means you’re busy and unfortunately, if you keep running your business that way, you are going to end up broke.

The secret to exponential growth is simply knowing what matters in your business and in your life and getting a laser like focus on tackling what needs to be done to accomplish your goals. Everything else ends up being irrelevant.

Gary Keller tells his top producers to get focused on their “One Thing”. He’s referring to the “One Thing” that you can do such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary.

Get in the habit of making it your top priority every single morning to doing what matters most in your business.

Start by asking yourself…What’s the One Thing you can do to ensure you hit your goals…? What’s the One Thing you can do today to move your company forward…? What’s the One Thing that will make you more profitable…? What’s the One Thing, that will make you more competitive…?

Once you have the answer…everything you do must be supportive to those answers.

I got some great advice years back when I was told; “your destiny will be determined by the decisions you make and your life will be shaped by the choices you make.”

Understand that this will result in what seems like an out of balance style of doing things. However, when there is a disproportionate amount of results that come from one specific activity, then it only makes sense to give that one activity a disproportionate amount of time.

Once you have knocked out your most important money making tasks, that’s when you can switch gears and knock out your filler time. I’m talking about those activities that keep your business running like; payroll, staff meetings, research,  and most importantly play time.

So where do you begin?

I’m not sure if you know this, but every top producer in almost every industry works with coaches and mentors. They understand the power of having someone to hold them accountable and push them forward as well as strategies with.

Finding a coach or mentor is essential to your growth. A good coach or mentor has been where you want to go in some capacity or another. This allows you to tap into their experience, allowing you to simply do what they did. This is called modeling. You can move much faster by doing what they have already proven successful.
